Shuttlecock football is an entertaining game.

The aim is to keep the shuttlecock as long as possible up in the air.

Shuttlecock football, jianzi or feather football as it is also known, is a leisure activity which originated from China in the 5th century and can easily be learned likewise by children and adults.

The age of the player is not important at all.

Simple and more complicated kicks can be combined at all skill levels, therefore it is always possible for beginners to enjoy an entertaining game together with more experienced players. It doesn´t really matter how much space is available, feather football can even be played in small areas the size of lifts or telephone boxes as long as there is no wind.

The main aim for Consett YMCA is to introduce this game into the local community and schools so people of all ages can experience this relatively new exciting sport.

Consett YMCA currently have two teams:
Senior Team: Billy Robson(Captain), David Winter and Graeme Dodds.
Junior Team: Jordan Edgar, Jonothon Horobin, James McDonald.

Consett YMCA are the governing body for Shuttlecock Football Federation England.
