National Awards Nominations

We are thrilled to say that we have been taken through to the final 3 nominations for 3 of the National Youth Matters awards.

Our Alternative Education department has been nominated for 'Delivering Success' award

Our Youth Services Manager, Paul has been nominated for 'Youth Worker or the Year' and

Our Princes Trust Assistant, Jonathan, has been nominated for 'Young Volunteer of the Year'

New staff member featured in national teaching magazine

Our newest member to the Education Team is Katie, she has come to us after completing her PGCE at the University of Sunderland. She was recently interviewed for the Institute for Learning's 'In Tuition' magazine. In the article Katie talks about the type of continuing profesisonal development (CPD) used by those who are new to teaching and training.

Alot of content has been updated, most of the updates are images, that have been added to the galleries.

Consett YMCA Shuttlecock Football Club, Race Night fundraser at Consett and District YMCA on the 13th of November starting at 7pm


This is to help raise funds for some of our young members to compete at an open championship with 10 other Europian countries in Hungary 2011

Halloween Party

Consett YMCA Halloween Party on Thursday the 28th of October from 6pm till 9pm, featuring a Live band and disco

Entry fee is £1 (this gets you a free hotdog)

English Federation of Shuttlecock Football sending teams to international competition

A CHARITY in north Durham is giving people the chance to represent their country in an international  sport.

The English Federation of Shuttlecock Football is based at Consett YMCA and chief executive Billy Robson is the captain.

A senior team and two junior sides, aged 14 to 18, are going to Marseilles, France, in November, to take part in an international competition.

Players have recently returned from playing in Hungary and more people are being encouraged to take part.

Investing in Children

We were delighted to find out today that we have once again passed the Investing in Children assesment and maintain our membership.

The glowing report shows just how much the young people enjoy making the choices that affect the running of the youth clubs and the lives of the young people who attend - we couldn't have done it with out you!!

Duck Race

As part of the Y Club youth forum's fundraising efforts to take part in the cultural exchange to Hungary this year, we are hosting a duck race on Sunday 25th April.

The ducks will be launched at 11am from the Boathouse at Ebchester, from this the first 3 ducks to cross the wooden bridge at the stepping stones at Ebchester will win.
